Sloowy: The Beach, Digital and Eco-Friendly
29/10/2021

Sloowy digitises beach gear rental with self-service kiosks, solar power and a mobile app. The result: 4.4 fewer tonnes of local waste and 660 kg less CO₂ a year.
Can you imagine not having to lug a pile of "stuff" to the beach? That is exactly what Sloowy does, a game-changing startup. Its goal was to digitise beach gear rental stands with a self-service model and, at the same time, reduce the environmental impact that beach gear creates. Neurafy's technology was a crucial part of achieving both goals.
How it works
The "Sloow Points" are made of wood and run automatically thanks to solar panels: the first 100% digital, eco-friendly beach furniture rental. They hold 80 chairs and umbrellas in just 5 m², serving 120 people.
Solution
At Neurafy we created a self-service kiosk that lets people pick up and return the products through a mobile app; we developed a cloud-connected locker unit that reports stock levels and usage time in real time; and we equipped the kiosk with its own power-generation system, with solar panels and storage, so it does not depend on the grid.
Results
A 100% automated project: 26 times more space-efficient than the concession model, with a resource utilisation rate 10 times higher, 100% renewable energy and 660 kilograms of CO₂ emissions avoided each year.
